Memory Lane With Najat

She is the princess of Arab pop in the 60s, 70s, her princess status and romance queen of her era. Best yet her songs remain till this day a source of inspiration for many Arab singers and songwriters who can only hope to evoke the kind of emotions Najat (Nagat Al Sageerah) and other singers of her were able to convey.

It's true we have nowadays Elissa, from Lebanon whom I see having been influenced by the voice and the style of Najat--even the way Najat stare, Elissa does that. Even thought entertainment was boring in 60, black and white entertainment, people like Najat brought colors to that era and made people want to purchase TV. She had stared in 11 motion pictures , and has started to slow down her career by mid 70s.

Najat had the softest voice in Arab music for ages, the way she performs those songs make it look as if she is not even trying--she makes it look too easy. And her vocals can move mountains with the passion and that little helpless lover traped inside. she has a very compelling personal story waiting to be told one day.

The good news Najat is still alive and well with us, she is breathing and gives no interviews nor engaged in any public event. If she can watch herself in a happier time when she had the youth, I am sure she can be the best person to comment on it. By the way her sister is Soad Hosny--another Arab entertainer that we have many fond memories of.
